The AMS Volunteer Group Services

The AMS Volunteer Group comprises of the First Aid Bicycle Team and the Community Health Education Group, which is established in the year of 2002 during the economic downturn of Hong Kong. It provides voluntary services to the public without utilizing additional Government resources. Members provide such services solely on a voluntary basis.

The AMS First Aid Bicycle Team comprises of over 1200 members (including doctors nurses). AMS volunteer members ride bicycles along the cycling tracks at the Tolo Harbor of the New Territories East to provide immediate first aid services to the injured on Saturday afternoons, Sundays public holidays.

On average, nearly 250 casualties received treatment from the First Aid Bicycle Team every month. Most of them expressed that after receiving the first aid treatment from our members, they were no need to call an ambulance or seek further medical advice. The First Aid Bicycle Team provides a most speedy and convenient service to the injured cyclists and helps to reduce the workload of the ambulances and the Accident and Emergency Departments.

The Community Health Education Group is led by a group of doctors and nurses. The trained Community Health Education Instructors organize health promotional activities in various districts. They work with District Boards, schools and local community agents to arrange health exhibitions and actively participate activities to publicize health messages and giving talks such as Health balanced diets, community cardiopulmonary resuscitation, first aid, prevention of influenza and drug abuse to the general public.
